The Neck

This is my work log of how work with the neck progressed:

When doing this, do not forget to think about the body too. There are many things to keep in mind, one example is how the distance of the neck effects the location of the bridge. I made both the body and the neck at the same time.

Before you commence with this you will need to choose what dimensions you want for your neck, you should also consider if you want to use a truss rod or not. I decided the dimensions during the work, but I do not recommend it.

29th of January:
Today I have marked the fretboard, I thought of adding an extra fret, the distance to it would have been 36,29010825 cm. After having though on this while making the other slots I decided to leave the extra space open; the last couple of frets will be hard enough to use, due to the short interval.

Yesterday I forgot to mention that I place a piece of tape on the saw so that I knew the depth that is needed for the frets. Anyway all went well while making the frets, I had some trouble with the 22nd fret but it will not be visible. This job was more time consuming than what I though earlier...

After having made all of the slots, I decided to use sand paper on its surface. I will try to fret the neck in a couple of weeks; I still have not decided if I should use glue or not. Before doing this I will glue the fretboard to the neck, and I will probably prepare the nut after that. (I will have to loan the saw again for the fret on the nut.)
